Skin Changes: Because Your Skin Decides to Age Like It’s in a Rush

If your skin feels drier, thinner, or just generally more “blah” during menopause, it’s not just your imagination. The loss of estrogen can lead to a decrease in collagen production, which means your skin might not be as firm or glowing as it used to be.

What Happens:

  • Dry, flaky skin that’s harder to moisturise
  • Thinner skin that bruises easily
  • Wrinkles or fine lines appearing more prominent

Your body’s decline in estrogen can lead to less hydration and collagen, leaving your skin feeling more fragile and less plump.

What You Can Do:

Stay hydrated – your skin needs all the water it can get
Menopause can leave your skin feeling dry, tight, or less plump than before. Drinking plenty of water isn’t just good for your insides—it makes a real difference on the outside too. Keep a water bottle nearby and sip throughout the day. Your skin will thank you with a bit more bounce and glow.

Invest in a good skincare routine with hydrating products
It’s time to swap out those harsh cleansers or drying formulas for gentle, nourishing products that restore moisture. Look for creams and serums packed with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, or glycerin—basically, anything that locks in hydration. And don’t forget to moisturise morning and night. Your skin deserves that kind of TLC.

Use sunscreen daily (it’s the number one anti-aging product you can use)
Sun damage is the sneaky enemy of healthy skin, especially as we age. Make sunscreen your non-negotiable daily habit—even on cloudy days or if you’re mostly indoors. A broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher protects your skin from UV rays that cause premature aging, dark spots, and irritation. Think of it as your invisible shield.

Bonus tip: Avoid hot showers and harsh exfoliants
Hot water and rough scrubs might feel good at the time but can strip away your skin’s natural oils, making dryness and sensitivity worse. Opt for lukewarm showers and gentle exfoliation once or twice a week. Treat your skin like you would a delicate flower—because it is.
